The beauty parlor has always been a big part of mine and K8's lives. We have early memories of our grandma and great aunts spending entire days there, gossiping and catching up with friends.

They taught us the importance of always looking our best and behaving properly, whether it was a casual family night out on Fridays or an important event. We always made sure to get our hair and nails done.

Over the years, we've grown to really appreciate good hairstyles and nail art. 🧬likes to jokingly ask "are the fish biting?" when it's time for a mani-pedi.

I've had blue hair for 8 years now and absolutely love it. During COVID, K8 transformed her iconic black bob into a blonde one. Since K8 doesn’t prioritize self-care, I booked us hair appointments with my stylist [Brittany!] who's used to me leaving with blue hair dye on her. We queue up a playlist, brought pizza from Buddy's and some wine. We also booked nail appointments for some fancy nail art.

Getting our hair done is like a spa day mixed with a therapy session. When K8 goes to her stylist in NJ, the client base is mostly older local ladies who all grew up together, so the gossip is always wildly entertaining. One time they were even chatting about bodies found floating in the Passaic River - very Sopranos vibes indeed!

It's always a fun time when we treat ourselves to these glam sessions. We get to relax and leave feeling fantastic.
