K8 & GINK

This edition is a little late because we had a much-needed, long-overdue sister weekend in Chicago! We're writing this on the 🚂 back to the farm.

Our sister day adventures are always a blast! We got to hang out and do whatever we wanted, like walking 4.5 miles, browsing designer stores, and indulging in pizza and wine during a Harry Potter weekend event.

While most of our trip was seamless, we encountered some interesting situations. For example, when K8 ordered a Mint Julep at the hotel bar for the Kentucky Derby, the bartender looked at her like she had 10 heads and asked, “Is that like a mojito but with whiskey?” K8 just shrugged and said, “Sure, whatever.” When the drink arrived with both lime and mint, it tasted more like a whiskey sprite or a literal mojito with whiskey. To top it off, the TV displayed the recipe for a real Mint Julep for about three minutes, but the bartender missed it completely. No one likes a bummer cocktail but nothing could ruin our trip!

We had a blast trying something new at the Lip Lab, making lip gloss and balm—it was so much fun! I always aim to do something new and cool on our adventures.

We went to a talk for Nascent's new album, Don't Grow Up Too Soon, and he explained how therapy, boxing, and basketball helped him in the creative process of making the album. Making music is a very personal and vulnerable experience, and we're happy to be part of his support system. K8 and I love to support our friends!

On our final day in Chicago, we walked along the river & said goodbye to our friends.

Nothing beats a sister day (weekend) for recharging and exploring the unknown.
