Hey there! It's Gink! I wanted to share a little story about my small win ✨: a new job that required a trip to the company's HQ.

So, I started this new job that was supposed to be fully remote, but they needed me to go on-site for orientation, which I thought was fine. I drove over in Router 🚗 on Sunday, and along the way, I spotted a 🦌, which felt like a good omen, like a sign from 🦷 saying she's proud of me.

Monday morning rolled around, and I was pumped to dive into this new opportunity! I was back to drafting and AutoCAD, which I love. 🎈

When I got there, I was handed safety gear like googles, a lab coat, coveralls, a hard hat with a light and heat resistant gloves. I was told I must have these things with me at all times. Throughout the day, coworkers were questioning how my job could be remote. Some warned me about the toxic boss and why the previous person in my role had left. I became extremely uncomfortable with the type of work this company did.

After digging into the workload, I realized it amounted to two years' worth of projects, yet they only planned to keep me for four months with no long-term prospects. The job itself seemed different from what was described - more like an AutoCAD consultant role than drafting.

By the end of the day, my brain was exploding - not from whatever toxic stuff they were making at HQ, but from all the negative vibes. I realized this just wasn't the right fit for me. I felt trapped because I was so eager to finally have a job.

Luckily, I have K8 and 🧬 for support, they’re the best.

Then, out of the blue, I got a LinkedIn message from a recruiter who had a time-sensitive opportunity that seemed like a much better fit. She scheduled me for an interview the very next day - another positive sign 🦷!

The next morning, I went straight to my cube & nobody really acknowledged me. It was weird.

At 11:00 am, I bravely took the interview call from my car.

At 12:20pm I handed everything I was given back in and I was met with some not so nice words. Then they told me that they haven’t had a CAD person in 5-6 months and they are doing just fine. So I said, “Cool, I’m gonna leave now.”

By 12:35 pm, I was in Router 🚗 on my way back to the Farm.

I start my new job the first week of April! The universe works in mysterious ways.

TLDR: Started new job > Didn't vibe with it > Got a LinkedIn message about a new opportunity > Nailed the interview > Scored a new job that feels like a much better fit.
