K8 & GINK

The sisters known as the Internet! 👯‍♀️

I moved to Michigan twelve years ago, and despite the distance from K8, our bond has remained unbreakable. When 🦷 & 🧬 brought me home from the hospital, K8 was there, arms wide open and ready to embrace me with unconditional love. That same dynamic persists to this day. Our website, k8knitzgink.com, serves as a constant reminder of the days until our next reunion, and the absence of any countdown only amplifies the feeling of loneliness.

We're always in touch, whether it's through phone calls, texts, or sliding into each other's DMs, and we know just how to lift each other up when things get tough. As we've been riding the rollercoaster of seasonal depression lately, the promise of longer days ahead brings a glimmer of hope. We started LAVA BRO, to share that special connection with y’all. We’re here ready to bring you comfort and companionship.

SMALL WINS

Let’s dive into the *~magic~*!

In a world that's all about the big moments, it's time to give props to the small wins—like finally nailing that thing you put off & it only takes 5 minutes, catching a breather mid-chaos or hustling through a workout when you'd rather binge, Love Is Blind. They might not make an impact, but these wins? They're the rizz to leveling up. So, let’s celebrate our accomplishments and manifest for the week ahead.

  • T5 hard launched Maggie on his IG

  • Rileigh finished her taxes

  • Christina found a pair of jeans that make her feel amazing

  • Sierra’s getting back into a gym routine

  • Lindsay got to work from home on Valentine’s day

  • Raven has an Urban Outfitters collab

  • Gink went to Blake’s & Sir Lushington is back

  • K8 starts a new freelance gig next week

WOO, SPORTS!

Inner Strength 🏆

As we eagerly await Simone Biles's epic return for the 2024 Paris Olympics 🤞, we’re giving a shoutout to some of the phenomenal ladies in NCAA Gymnastics. Let’s talk about the difference between club gymnastics and collegiate gymnastics. Club gymnastics? It's a solo game, ultra-competitive, and often feels pretty lonely. But when you step into the world of college gymnastics, it's a whole different story. It's all about hyping up your girls! Teammates stand shoulder to shoulder along the floor, cheering each other on, and vibing with every move. It's not just about the routines; it's about the camaraderie. That sense of unity is a game-changer for mental health.

Competitions are all day events. The first hour is spent putting on makeup like a pageant queen, last minute massages / treatments and getting taped to warm up. During the two-hour warmup session, teams spend 20 minutes collectively warming up for each event: vault, beam, floor, and bars and 15 minutes solo time. Following this, there's a 20-minute rush to change into competition leotards, engage in team cheers, and line up for the march out. The march out is similar to a football runout! Names on screen, music and crowd excitement. It’s during the march that nerves typically set in, setting the stage for an exhilarating day of competition.

I definitely still get those nerves, but over the past five years, learning how to deal with these nerves has changed. Being able to invest in the team and give my energy to someone else before I go takes my mind off what I’m about to do.

Finally… bedtime 😴 #gymnastics #gymnast #athlete #sports #d1 #ncaa #getunreadywithme #makeup #relatable

Taking a breather and embracing the tranquility of downtime can be way more satisfying than the "faux busy Olympics" we often find ourselves in. And you know what? That's totally okay. Don't hesitate to carve out time for yourself to reset and reflect. It’s more productive to give yourself time to think about your to do list, organize and prioritize. With LAVA BRO by your side, you don't have to tackle life's challenges solo; we've got that undeniable chemistry that provides the ultimate support system for navigating all those twists and turns. Just like in gymnastics, it's all about finding that perfect balance and sticking the landing—both on the mat and in life!
